John Knox Village

I visited this facilityJohn Knox Village was very nice, all new, and very clean. The apartment was beautiful. The staff was very polite and very nice. We have nothing to complain about. It's only that it's extremely expensive. There is a new complex that they built. They have some that are older, but the new one is outstanding.

I am/was a resident of this facilityI'm in John Knox Village. This is where I get physical therapy. It's a five-diamond facility. I have my own private room. The physical therapy and the occupational therapy are excellent. The care here is outstanding. The staff is attentive to my needs. The food is excellent. There's something for everybody. If you don't like what's on the main menu, you can choose what you prefer to have. It's a brand-new facility and I highly recommend it.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past residentI had a friend at John Knox Village and he had really good care there. The staff was very friendly. What I liked was they had pods with a kitchen, a dining area, and maybe around 8 rooms. The residents weren't able to go outside unless someone took them. And I thought that was beneficial because they could go outside but they always had someone to watch over them since they were physically incapacitated. They had good choices for the meals, but it's not like eating in a restaurant.

I am/was a resident of this facilityI stayed at John Knox Village for 18 days because I broke my leg. It was a big luxurious place, but you have to buy into it because they also have other levels up which go all the way to hospice. They have little homes that you can live in or you can live in the high rise. They allowed me to bring my cat with me. The staff there was excellent. They gave excellent care. The food was very interesting. There were lay people that would come in and cook the meals. You sit in the dining room and you can see them cooking. I was laughing because one of them couldn't make eggs, but it was so cute and so entertaining. They have beverages available all day that you could just get. They had a beautiful screened-in patio that I would go to and listen to my music. They keep the grounds gorgeous all the time.

I am/was a resident of this facilityWe have chosen John Knox Village. The amenities are outstanding. They have an aquatic complex with two large saltwater pools with canopy cover, so you're protected from the sun. They have five restaurants, too. They have a performing arts center that's part of their community. It's very active. Great food and happy people. Everyone we talked to (whether it was assisted living or the other) has been there a long time, and they loved it, and that made a big difference. We stayed there two times, and so we got a good feel for the community, and it's perfect for us. We were looking for more diversity, so it's got a good LBGTQ community, so that made the difference, too. We're looking for continuing care starting with independent living. It's a non-profit, which we also were looking for with a lot of good financial backing.

I visited this facilityI would recommend John Knox Village to anybody. It might be a little expensive, but it's very nice. It's an independent living, and it goes in stages. You can get a little cottage, and you can go into an apartment and then you can get assisted living. It's kind of one of those that has everything. It had a lot of different amenities and restaurants on the premises, and there were different apartment buildings. It's kind of like a gated community in a way, meaning that if you walk outside, you can walk down the street, and they have a pool and exercise facilities. We went up to a single bedroom and they're smaller, but they're very nice. Then we saw a two-bedroom and it was also very nice and roomy. Some of them had a kitchen, some don't have stoves. The people that we met were very nice and very helpful. They have a little bistro and a restaurant. You could sign up for classes if you wanted to do exercises. It was nice that people were walking around and there was a little lake that they could walk to and sit around. It felt like a little community. The residents we saw were very happy. We had people that waved to us and said hi with big smiles. They didn't look grumpy.

I visited this facilityJohn Knox Village was a huge complex that provided what we were looking for which was a complete care. It was a community, not just a building, so you had to drive to go to places. It had personal housing or duplexes. There was a building which was the independent living part and was well presented. The one who toured us answered all of our questions. The apartments were really nice, and there were so many layout choices. The Alzheimer's and skilled nursing areas were within the complex. A lot of doctors were in the complex, so you don’t need to go out to go to a private doctor. They had personalized restaurants in the complex. They had laundry, a beauty shop, and a little store if you want to buy trinkets and stuff. They also had a big monthly calendar full of events.

I visited this facilityJohn Knox (John Knox Village of Florida) has lovely apartments. They have a pattern in there that's really above anything I have ever seen. They have a community dining room on the floor and they cook the food right there, which actually puts the smells out for the people so that it would help their appetite before they eat. It's excellent. I think John Knox is the top of the line. They have a chapel, a place to work out, and physical therapy.

I visited this facilityThe residents at John Knox Village of Pompano Beach were moving around well, but the grounds were rather large, so they needed help getting around. It was a very nice-looking place with nice-looking buildings. They invited me to stay for dinner; I passed on it, but the dining room looked very nice. They took them to the movies once a week, and there are games to play.

I am a friend or relative of a residentThe staff I met at John Knox Village was very friendly. I really like my friend’s apartment, which has a screened balcony outside the bedroom and another balcony off of the living room. I thought to myself, 'This apartment is so much bigger than what I need." The facility was very clean, kept up well, and had a lot of activities.

I visited this facilityI was very impressed. The rooms were spacious and beautiful. I would recommend John Knox Village. I like the ratio of LPNs to clients.

I am a friend or relative of a residentJohn Knox Village was a nice facility; mom had a nice apartment. It was a very nice 1-bedroom, 2-bath apartment on the 8th floor. She had a nice view; she liked that. Being that she was independent, there was really no interaction, but they did have some activities that she could partake in. She got 15 meals a month of good food. The staff’s work attitude was very good.

I visited this facilityJohn Knox is a wonderful place, but it’s too expensive for me. My parents were there for years -- and my aunt was as well -- so I know how it operates, and my husband was there. It’s very beautiful; the landscaping and the areas around the outside and the interiors; they’re all beautiful. The health center is a great thing to have. Everybody who’s there likes the food a lot, but I have eaten there, and it wasn’t the best. They have lots of activities and a wide range of things to do there.

I am/was a resident of this facilityWhen I took the tour here in John Knox everybody was so friendly. I am in assisted living now and they just take care of everything for me. I don't have to shop and cook anymore. I have a room and a private bathroom. We're a small group here in the assisted living probably about 90 people. They have entertainment for us and it's just great! I'm happy with my stay here.

I am/was a resident of this facilityJohn Knox offered so much more than the other places. This is the reason why I chose to live here. I have been here for some time. It's the best thing I've ever done in my life. I always find the place comfortable and home-like.

I visited this facilityI found John Knox Village to be very lovely and peaceful. The people that I spoke to were very accommodating and very nice to deal with. The grounds of the place are very, very nice. What held me back in not choosing this place was the cost. There is a buy-in cost and then there's a monthly cost. It was a little bit more than my pocketbook could handle. I would recommend this facility if they could afford it because it's a lovely place.

I visited this facilityThe staff was excellent and it was very nice inside John Knox Village. However, it was extremely expensive. They wanted $120,000 non-refundable deposit. That alone was a turn off. The entry cost was just prohibitive. I just don't understand how they get people with that kind of money. The place was a little dated; it was built in the 70s. The neighborhood around it was bad. It was not in a good area unless you got in the protected confines of the village. It also had an unusual layout. It had houses for people that were not yet ready to go into an apartment or didn't need assisted living. The dining area was at a central location. It was really inconvenient if you didn't live in that building where the dining area was. If you had any problem walking long distances, you would not want to live in this village.
